Medical screening of delivery boys to be conducted at shop-level: DM
New Delhi: "Medical screening of the delivery boys should be conducted at shop-level itself," revealed the latest order by the District Magistrate of South Delhi.
The order accessed by the Millennium Post reads, "In tune with the guidelines issued by Government, it is hereby ordered that the delivery persons should be sanitised and proper hygiene be maintained regularly. It is also reiterated that their medical screening be done at shop level itself so that and if any symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, breathlessness are observed, it is to be reported to the concerned medical authorities immediately and the person should be isolated on a priority basis."
"It will be the responsibility of the shop owners to ensure that all the delivery persons should maintain all the guidelines issued by the Government and maintain proper social distancing while delivering the food to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Non-compliance of the orders will be viewed seriously and action, as deemed fit, shall be initiated against all the erring persons for not following the guidelines to control the COVID-19", the order further reads.
The order was sent to all retailers, grocery shop owners, online retailers, e-commerce outlets of South district for strict compliance.
BM Mishra, District Magistrate of South Delhi told the Millennium Post that they have formed a special team to keep a watch on the markets."They will keep a tab on the health status of delivery boys," he said. Sources said that the team will also check whether food outlets are doing a thermal screening of their delivery staff before sending to any customer.
With 89 people quarantined after a pizza delivery agent tested positive for Coronavirus in South Delhi, the authorities are considering clinical screening of all food delivery personnel in the area. The pizza delivery agent was feeling unwell for some time along with a persistent cough since the third week of March. Later he approached a hospital where he was tested positive, said another official.
Seventeen first-line contacts of the infected man, including his colleagues have been quarantined at an institutional facility at Chhatarpur. Booth-level teams were deputed to trace other contacts of the delivery agent.
