Measles-rubella vaccine given to over 6 lakh Ggn kids

Gurugram: Often in the news for the wrong reasons, the Gurugram Health Department has now achieved a major success as it provided over six lakh children with rubella measles immunisation.

The office of Gurugram deputy commissioner issued an official statement, thanking all parents and staff for undertaking such a massive operation and achieving success.

Special camps were organised by the Department in various schools and an array of public officials visited several areas of the city to spread the awareness.

"Despite holding protests during this period, the services of Asha workers was also helpful in getting large participation," said an official.

"Thanks to all parents and schools of Gurugram, we have crossed the immunisation count of six lakh children for measles-rubella vaccine in Gurugram. Health department doctors and health workers – well done," was an official statement.

Officials of Haryana government involved in the project said that registration of pregnant women will allow for better tracking procedures and aid in reducing incidents of female infanticide in Gurugarm.

In the past, the district health department has been instrumental in improving the district's sex ratio.
