MCG to take over pvt colonies on Aug 15: Rao Narbir Singh

Gurugram: Haryana PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh on Sunday assured the aggrieved citizens of Gurugram's DLF Phase-3 area that development and maintenance activities in their colony will be taken over by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on August 15.

The assurance by the senior cabinet minister comes at a time when many private colonies are unable to deal with various civic issues, such as poor condition of roads, erratic water and electricity supply and illegal constructions.

Despite Chief Minister ML Khattar's direction to MCG to speed up the process of takeover of private colonies, chances are the process will be delayed on multiple occasions, as it has been so far.

To study the feasibility for acquisition in the nine private colonies, the Corporation had appointed special consultants for these projects. However, more than one and a half months after the appointments, the consultants are yet to submit their reports for most of the private residential colonies.

Senior public officials mentioned that private colonies that are to be acquired by the public body must expedite their maintenance works and fill in their infrastructural deficiencies.

The Corporation had also warned that those builders who are not going to adhere to the standards will risk losing licences.

Taking cognisance of the delay, RWA heads of DLF, Sushant Lok and Sun City have been increasing pressure on the government for quick takeover of their respective colonies.
