MCG seals 250 properties over non-payment of property tax

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is taking strict measures against the owners of those properties that have not paid the property tax even after several reminders.

The officials of MCG have sealed over 250 properties in the city for non-payment of property taxes.

MCG officials further warned that non-payment of taxes will result in the municipal body selling the property if required, in order to recover their pending dues.

With the deadline of property tax payments expected to end on May 1, the Corporation officials have warned that there could be stricter action initiated against property tax defaulters

Facing huge revenue deficit due to lack of collection in property taxes, MCG has been able to recover more than Rs 300 crore.

The Corporation has stated that providing various incentives like, 35 percent discount in property tax, organising various camps and encouraging digital payments has resulted in a large number of citizens coming forward to pay their property taxes.

Meanwhile, MCG has maintained that certain discrepancies over the payment of property taxes, that have been brought out by citizens, will be resolved by the officials.
