MCG plans to rope in MNCs for maintenance of Millennium City

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) plans to rope in the services of the Multinational companies in Gurugram for the maintenance of the Millennium City.

With a list of more than two hundred most valuable global companies having their headquarters in Gurugram, the MCG officials hope that the participation of the MNC's will be instrumental in the upkeep of the city.

The MCG is in discussion with various MNC's in the city for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) where the companies will contribute towards the civic maintenance of the city. The amount spent by the private companies will be on the part of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Upon signing the MOU's, the MNC's will be instrumental in projects like construction of road dividers, setting up footpaths, creating parks and planting new saplings to improve the green cover.

The greater amount in terms of materials and labour will be paid by the private companies. Also, the MCG will be responsible for payment of water and electricity bills.

A nodal officer who will be responsible for easing the process for MNC'S involvement in projects of civic maintenance will be appointed by MCG.

While the MNC's have been allowed to mention their contribution towards the civic maintenance of the city as part of CSR, The MNC's have not been given the permission to use these projects for their branding.

"With Gurugram having the largest number of MNC's in the country, the MCG is planning to involve the multi- billion dollar companies towards the maintenance of Gurugram. The participation of MNC's along with the MCG will play an important role in meeting the civic challenges in the city. The MNC's will spend the amount on the part of the CSR. The MNC's upon signing the formal agreement with the MCG will be able to build footpaths, create parks and plant new saplings to improve the greenery in the city. Therefore, the MNC's, can play an important role in the beautification of the city," said the MCG official.
