MCDs carry out drive against encroachment across Capital

New Delhi: Intensifying their ongoing anti-encroachment drive, all three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) have removed several temporary and permanent structures. Hundreds of vehicles, rehris and other items were also seized by the civic bodies.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has also destroyed 50 kg fruits and 80 kg of food items in the central zone. It has also sealed 60 vehicles in an operation conducted in west zone.
A senior SDMC official informed that an encroachment removal drive was undertaken in three zones of the SDMC, following the instructions of Special Task Force (STF) appointed on the orders of the Supreme Court.
"The action was taken jointly by the licensing branch, Delhi Police and traffic police. The action was undertaken from AIIMS to Lado Sarai T-point on Aurobindo Road, Green Park, Yusuf Sarai, Gautam Nagar to Lado Sari T- point, Metro station Nehru Place and Prem Nath Dogra Marg, Tamil Sangam Marg, RK Puram," said the SDMC senior official.
The similar drive was also undertaken in the Central zone at Sidharth Nagar, Sunlight colony, Bhagwan Nagar Jeewan Hospital Gurdwara Road, Janakpuri and Uttam Nagar. North Corporation also sealed 17 factories running illegally in Sultanpur Majra and conducted a similar action in Rohini, G T Road, Begumpur, Inderlok and other areas. East Delhi Municipal Corporation has also impounded 43 vehicles from Sastri Park, Seelampur, Maujpur Khajuri, Gandhi Nagar, Kailash Nagar, Geeta Colony and Vivek Vihar.
