Married woman dies under mysterious circumstances
Ghaziabad: In a alleged case of dowry death, a 30-years-old married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on Thursday.
Victim's family members alleged that her in-laws killed her and buried the body without informing them.
According to police, the deceased identified as Seema was married to Chanchal (35) in February 2013.
Cops said that her in-laws have claimed that she had committed suicide, however, a case of dowry death has been registered against four persons based on allegations from victim's family, said police.
Victim's family members have alleged that her in-laws were continuously harassing her for dowry and often thrash her for no reason.
"Several times, Seema had complaint us of being tortured by her husband Chanchal and his family. We had performed their marriage as per Hindu rituals and gave beyond our limits in the marriage. However they were not happy and were demanding for more. Often they used to harass her no reason and didn't allow her to use mobile phone," said Harishchandra Prajapati, father of deceased.
Prajapathi further said that on Thursday evening around 6:30 pm, when they called Chanchal to speak with Seema, he said that she is ill but there is nothing to worry and he will make him talk to her once he reach home.
"Upon calling him again in night, his phone went switched off and we tried other numbers of his family which were also turned off. On suspecting something to be fishy, I sent a relative to their house who found the door locked but we located Chanchal at his village in Loni. As we asked him about Seema he told that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan and they had performed the cremation," added Prajapathi.
