Marriage refusal: Jilted lover held for kidnapping girl's father

New Delhi: A 24-year-old delivery boy, who kidnapped the father of the girl whom he wanted to marry, was arrested from Mathura railway station.

The investigating agency said that the victim was against the marriage of her daughter with the accused. Police identified the accused as Sanjeev alias Sanju native of Meerut.

He was arrested within 24 hours of the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that on May 26 at about 8:19 am, a PCR Call was received in the Dwarka North police station in which the caller complained that when he reached his shop in the morning at about 7:45 am he could not found his Munshi (name withheld).

"When he enquired about the victim, a worker informed that today in the early morning at about 3 am, 3-4 persons came on a white colour car to the shop and took away with Munshi in the car," added DCP Alphonse.

Then, the owner immediately called the police as he suspected that some persons might have kidnapped his Munshi.

DCP Dwarka further added that during the investigation, it came to notice that a phone call was received by the victim's daughter on her mobile from two different mobile numbers.

"In the mobile conversation, the victim spoke to her (daughter) and informed that presently he is in Sonepat and advised her to marry one Sanju, as he is a good boy," added DCP Dwarka.

He further said that the daughter suspected that his father could have been kidnapped by Sanju who is known to her. She informed the police.

The team put the suspected mobile numbers on surveillance and the location of the two numbers. It was traced at Bawali in Baraut district. Immediately, a raiding party departed to Baraut.

In between, the accused persons changed their location frequently.

"Finally, the location of one mobile number was traced at Mathura, UP. The team rushed to the spot and arrested the main accused Sanju from platform number-2, Mathura Junction and safely rescued the victim (name withheld)," added DCP Dwarka. Police said that accused person disclosed that he wanted to marry the daughter of the victim but the victim and his family member refused his proposal.
