Manoj Tiwari should stop banking on Purvanchalis: Dilip Pandey

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey spoke on the upcoming assembly elections and said that Purvanchalis will be swayed by the AAP-led governments' work in health, education, and the work done in the unauthorised colonies. He said that the BJP has consistently been playing with the sentiments of the Purvanchalis who will respond through their vote.

In interaction with the Millennium Post, Pandey said that the BJP has been hurting the sentiments of the Purvanchalis while Kejriwal has been working in their favour by improving education in government schools. The AAP leader said that the constant humiliation faced by Purvanchalis was clear even during the Chhath Puja held in November. He said, "When the Kejriwal-led government came to power there were only 72 ghats and now there are 1,108 venues for Chhath puja. The BJP workers broke the Chhath ghat where we were protesting, they hurt the sentiments of the Purvanchalis. We stood our ground and made sure the Chhath puja took place in the same place."

Pandey said, "Manoj Tiwari should stop banking on Purvanchalis. When the Chhath ghat was broken in GK he did not utter a single word in favour of those who celebrate Chhath puja. Anyone who hails from Purvanchal be it from Bihar or UP, will not like Chhath ghats being broken or a fellow Purvanchali being beaten. But when it comes to asking for votes then they are there in every gully with hands folded asking for votes. If this is the case than you are not a real Purvanchali but a fake one. People of Delhi have seen this double standard activity of the opposition. This gimmick has been exposed so when they go to the people of Delhi no matter what the issue they take be it unauthorised colonies they will be cautious."

Speaking on the 2019 elections and Purvanchalis support for the opposition, he said, "The 2019 election was of a different taste. It was thought to be between two major parties — Congress and BJP — big parties in the country. We tried to make them believe that if we get elected, unlike previous MPs, we will deliver on all our promises. We have managed to gain that trust."
