A 35-year-old painter stabbed his wife to death after suspecting her of having an extramarital affair. After killing his wife Nargis (30), the accused Anees wrapped her dead body in a blanket and tried to dispose it near a local church located in Sangam Vihar's L Block area.
The accused was arrested by the cops in the early hours of Thursday. During interrogation, Anees confessed to his crime. "The couple has three children who will be handed over to their relatives," said police sources.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal, the incident took place on Wednesday night. The following day, around 7.30 am, police received a PCR call saying that a dead body wrapped in a blanket was found near Gali no 7 at L-1 Block, Sangam Vihar. The neighbours also reported that the couple had been fighting over trivial issues.
"After the PCR call, we deputed a team which soon reached the spot and they found the woman's body. After the body was inspected, we found that the woman had sustained multiple stab
injuries to her head, left side of her face and shoulder," said Biswal.
The woman's body was shifted to AIIMS for post mortem. While investigating the case, police found that on Wednesday night, the couple were involved in the feud, which culminated into Anees stabbing Nargis to death.
Javed, a relative of the victim, said, "Anees would regularly beat his wife over trivial issues. Nargis used to criticise Anees for being unemployed. We never thought that he would actually kill her," he said.
Anees's family members were informed about the tragedy and that her body was preserved in AIIMS mortuary.
"Once they come to Delhi, the body will be handed over," said cops.
