New Delhi: A 45-year-old man was stabbed to death at his residence in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area on Sunday evening.
Police said they have reasons to believe that the victim's son-in-law is the prime suspect.
Cops learnt that the suspect had an serious argument with his wife, soon after which her father was reported dead. The deceased man was identified as Prabhu Dayal.
Police said that Neeraj had got married to Dayal's daughter in December 2016.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Singh on Sunday said that as soon as the murder was reported, Neeraj fled the area. He added that police teams have been formed several teams to nab the accused.
The incident was reported on Sunday around 4 pm, after a relative of the deceased made the a call to the police, immediately after he found Dayal's lying in the pool of blood.
A police team rushed to the spot and took the victim to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police further claimed that during investigation, it came to light that of late, Neeraj and his wife were having domestic trouble, which led them to have regular arguments.
Recently, Neeraj's wife had left him and went to her parents' house.
The suspect had been asking her to return home, but she refused, saying that they would end up fighting again and thus she did not want to come back with him.
Sources claimed that Neeraj killed Dayal, intending to teach his wife and in-laws a lesson.
However, the DCP refused to comment, stating that things will become clear after the suspect is nabbed.
