Man shot dead for refusing to 'give ganja' to bike-borne men
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Thursday said that a 35-year-old man was murdered by bike-borne assailants in east Delhi's Ghazipur areas on Wednesday night.
Cops said the deceased man has been identified as Shamim, a resident of Ghazipur who owned a dairy business.
They added that on Tuesday night, Shamim had come to his brother's shop in the same area where some strangers picked a fight with him.
Though the immediate reason for the scuffle between Shamim and the men is yet to be determined, sources claimed that the accused picked up a fight with Shamim after they asked him for 'ganja'.
Shamim's refusal reportedly irked them and they got into a verbal altercation. Soon, the assailants left the spot but later returned around 11.30 pm and fired at Shamim.
He was immediately rushed to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. The body has been sent for post-mortem
Cops, meanwhile, are also probing the case for any personal enmity, and Shamim's family and friends are being questioned.
Police have also formed several teams to identify and arrest the accused. CCTV footage of the area is being scanned and local intelligence pressed in action to get some clue of the assailants. Shamim is survived by his wife and three daughters.
