Man shot at by unidentified assailants in south Delhi

New Delhi: A man was shot at in south Delhi's Gulmohar Park area on Wednesday by unidentified armed assailants, with Delhi Police claiming that the victim was shot twice and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.

Cops said the victim was identified as Sajjan Kumar, who lives with his family in Gulmohar Park area.

The incident was reported on Wednesday morning when Kumar was going to a nearby bank to deposit money. Suddenly, he was intercepted by unidentified assailants on a scooter, who were carrying firearms.

They tried to snatch the bag from Kumar, and when he resisted and tried to flee, they fired two shots at him accused fled the spot. "They were unable to take the bag," a police official told reporters.

A passerby made a PCR call, after which a police team reached the spot and took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Police said they have registered a case in this regard.

"We have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. The case is been probed from all angles, including personal enmity," said an investigator, adding that there is a possibility that the accused had followed the victim for a while.
