Man sent to jail for bomb hoax message
New Delhi: A 46-year-old man was arrested from Bara Hindu Rao area for sending hoax bomb message to the staff of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gole Market on Thursday.
Police said that the accused wanted to implicate an innocent person with whom he had argument two years ago. Police identified the accused as Shariq Akhtar, who lives in Bara Hindu Rao area of Sadar Bazar.
"He was working as a liaison agent for admission of children in schools particularly in Kendriya Vidyalaya from last five years," police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Eish Singhal said that on October 3, they received a complaint from the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya regarding the hoax bomb scare message. "On receipt of the information Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) and Dog squad were called on the spot. All the children were shifted to the safe side. Anti Sabotage checks of the school surrounding are got conducted. No bomb was detected," said DCP Singhal. Later, the accused Shariq Akhtar was nabbed by the team of Inspector Gyanender Rana from Bara Hindu Rao area.
DCP Singhal said that the accused confessed that his motive was to entangle one Sajid Khan whom he quarrelled two years ago on the issue of money.
"Hence he took a SIM card on the Aadhaar card of Sajid and sent a hoax message," DCP Singhal.
