Man on the run after shooting wife in stomach

NEW DELHI: A woman was allegedly shot at by her husband in Rohini Sector-3 on Tuesday night, after which he went absconding, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.

Cops added that the woman has been identified as 25-year-old Sonia, and admitted to Ambedkar Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Around 10.40 pm on Tusday, cops received a call that a woman has been shot at in Rohini Sector-3, soon after which a police team reached the spot and got Sonia admitted to the hospital with a bullet injury in her stomach.

"She was shot by her husband. Her Conditon is said to be stable now. On the night of the incident, Sonia had come from Udaipur. We are investigating the case," said DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Kumar.

A relative said that Sonia and Jaspreet have been married for over three years, but have been living separately since 2016.

A few days ago, she came to visited Delhi to see her ailing mother-in-law who has sufered partial paralysis.

Jaspreet's family lives in Vijay Vihar and said they have not been able to make contact with him since the shooting.

"My brother is being implicated. The cops came to our house, searched and took the DVR of the CCTV cameras," said Navjot Kaur, sister of the accused.

Delhi police have formed several teams to locate and arrest the accused.
