New Delhi: A 28-year-old who killed his friend suspecting the latter's affair with his wife was arrested from a drug de-addiction center in Tughlakabad Extension, where he had gone into hiding.
DCP (South East) Chinmoy Biswal on Sunday said that a torn visiting card pieced together proved to be a vital clue in arresting Pawan Shukla, who had murdered his friend Devender on January 18.
"The police team re-examined the crime scene and found some pieces of a torn visiting card.
"All pieces were collected and pieced back and on the back of the card was a phone number. The number was found to be in the name Shukla's wife, who was later located to Faridabad.
"She identified the deceased as her husband's friend Devender. Devender's father later raised doubts Shukla, as he had called his son from his house," said Biswal.
After a search operation was undertaken, Shukla was arrested from de-addicition centre.
Police said that Devender used to visit Shukla's house, which led the accused to suspect that his friend was having an illicit relationship with his wife.
Shukla told police that had he had found a card in Devender's pocket, with his wife's number on it, which pushed him to murder his friend.
