Man kills 76-yr-old mother for refusing to move to old age home

A 76-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her son after she refused to move to an old age home in South West Delhi's Sagarpur area this Tuesday.

Laxmi Naidu was battered with a brick and then suffocated by a plastic pipe, after which she died.

The forensic teams have recovered the weapons of offence, the plastic pipe and the brick used to beat the septuagenarian.

The police have arrested Laxman Kumar Naidu, her 48-year-old son, who has confessed to killing his mother. Laxman has told the police that he has been suffering from depression. The police is verifying his claim. According to a police official privy to the investigation, Laxman Kumar Naidu is married and has two children.

He and his wife have been living separately for the past two years. His wife had shifted with her children to her parent's house in Agra. "He had been shifting jobs and did not have a stable income. His wife felt insecure due to this and left him. Since then he was living with his mother in Sagarpur. He currently works as a tailor," the police official said.

Laxman's neighbours have told the police that Kumar would often fight with his mother over the issue of making her shift to an old age home. The woman also refused to live with her two younger sons. She did not want to leave her house.
