Man involved in theft of 4,000 phones arrested in Ggn
Gurugram: More than 4,000 mobile phones were stolen by Babloo and his accomplices, whose total value is pegged at Rs 87 lakh. However, the Babloo gang's good run finally came to an end after Gurugram Police successfully nabbed him, after acting on a tip-off.
Though mobile phone theft is a major law and order challenges in the city, what made this case peculiar was the massive number of cell phones that Babloo.
Revealing the gang's modus operandi, senior officials of Gurugram Police on Sunday said that Babloo and his gang used to target godowns where a large number of mobiles used to be stored.
The gang would then go to Nepal with the stolen inventory and sell it to earn a handsome profit.
Cops added that they have recovered a sizeable number of stolen mobile phones and search is on to find more of the electronic devices.
Babloo, a native of belonged from Motihari district of Bihar, had come to Gurugram a year ago in search of a better livelihood.
He, however, took to criminal activities after he felt that he could make a quick buck with nefarious activities.
So far this year, he committed multiple burglaries, stealing over 4,000 different cell phones.
His luck, however, ran out and law enforcement officials were finally able to get hold of him. "The arrest of Babloo is a major success and we hope that it will significantly reduce the number of mobile theft in the city," said a police official.
