Man involved in Rs 65L robbery in Noida, held
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have arrested one robber after a brief exchange of fire near Moolchand Metro Station.
Police said that the accused recently committed a robbery of Rs 65 lakh in Noida along with his other gang members. Police identified the accused as Iqbal (49). He was involved in various crime incidents in Delhi-NCR.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) G Ram Gopal Naik said that on May 2, a cashier of Paras Group of Companies was robbed of Rs. 65 Lakhs by five robbers at gunpoint in the area of Jarcha in Noida.
He said that on October 17, after getting information that the accused would come near Moolchand Metro Station, a trap was laid. The accused was spotted in the car. The driver of the car started firing at the police party in which two inspectors and assistant sub-inspector were hit by the bullets. But, they were saved by the bulletproof jackets worn by them. To save their lives, the police team had to open fire upon the criminal during which he sustained gunshot injury in his left leg.
