Man involved in printing fake notes held
New Delhi: A 23-year-old man involved in printing fake notes was arrested from Minto Road area of New Delhi. Police claimed that after accused started using the forged notes for his lifestyle as well as for purchasing goods at various places.
Police identified the accused as Jugeshwar Ram. He holds a Diploma in Computer Application. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Eish Singhal said that on August 29, an auto driver picked up a passenger
from Chelmsford Road towards Outer Circle Connaught Place who intended to go to Minto Road.
"At Minto Road, near the Outer Circle Connaught Place, the passenger
asked the auto driver to stop and gave him a new currency note of Rs.100 (new currency) to pay the fare. The auto driver on suspicion checked the note cursorily and found it to be a fake one," said DCP New Delhi.
He further added that when the auto driver asked him to change the note, the passenger ran towards Minto Road. The auto driver raised alarm and started chasing him. The picket staff at Minto Road heard the alarm raised by the auto driver and responded quickly to chase and nab the running man. The picket staff enquired about the entire incident.
Meanwhile, the passenger threw his wallet into the nearby drain probably not to disclose his identity. The wallet was recovered from the by the picket staff. "The accused was frisked and a total of 98 forged currency notes of Rs 100 and nine forged currency notes of Rs 200 were seized and recovered from his pocket," said DCP Singhal.
The accused wanted to live a lavish life so he started printing fake currency notes. The fraudster used to watch crime-related serials and from there, he got an idea to earn easy money. The entire investigation the team was led by SHO (Barakhamba Road) Prahlad Singh.
