Man held with 12 pieces of gold at IGIA

New Delhi: Customs at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday said that they have arrested one person with 12 pieces of gold from IGI airport. The value of the gold was more than 14 lakh rupees.

According to customs, one passenger holding Indian passport, arrived on October 25 from Bangkok by flight .

He was intercepted by the customs officials at IGI airport after he had crossed green channel.

His baggage search resulted in recovery of 12 pieces of gold concealed inside the wheels of three trolley bags, total weighing 420 grams, having tariff value of nearly Rs 14.57 lakh.

Joint Commissioner of Customs Niranjan CC said that further the person admitted that smuggling of gold of value Rs 87,45,408 in his previous visits in same manner. "Thus the total value of offending goods amounts to Rs 1,02 crore" said Niranjan CC.
