Man held for selling stolen phones online

New Delhi: A 31-year-old man was arrested from north west Delhi for his stealing phones and selling them on an online classified website.
The accused, identified as Amit Verma, is resident of Shashi Garden in Mayur Vihar Phase-1.
According to police, complainant Ajay Rathore told them that on the morning of January 12, he found that his shop was broken into from the roof and that around 50 branded mobile phones of different brands were stolen. A case was soon registered at Harsh Vihar police station.
DCP (North East) AK Singla said that during investigation, raids was conducted at various places. Ultimately, some of the phones were found to have been activated and were put under surveillance.
A team led by Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, SHO, Harsh Vihar police station, and formed under the supervision of Subhod Goswami, ACP, Nand Nagri police station soon located the accused Verma and arrested him.
"The accused told us that he and his brother Rajeev also run a mobile shop in Pandav Nagar. A friend of theirs, Naseem, involved in mobile phone theft, gave them three stolen phones to be sold into the market. They prepared forged bills and sold one phone for Rs 8,200 to a customer named Manish Kumar and another to one Sachin Kumar for Rs 8,200 (through a classified website). They returned one of the stolen phones to Naseem after they came to know that police were active in this case and may catch them," said the DCP.
