Man held for killing niece, dumping her body in plastic sack

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his seven years old niece whose body was found in a plastic sack at a drain near NH-9 in Khora area of Ghaziabad on Saturday.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Saleem, younger brother of deceased's father and a native of Khora area.

Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad said that the girl was killed after she took the meat of buffalo sacrificed on the occasion of Bakrid to her house instead of delivering to her uncle.

"The accused sent the girl to deliver the buffalo meat to his house but he received a phone call from his wife and she asked about the meat. He informed that he has sent his brother's daughter for the delivery nearly an hour ago. He went to the girl and asked her about the sacrificed meat, she told him that she took the meat to her house instead of his house and her mother has cooked. Then the accused slapped her and she died after her forehead hit the stair. The accused dumped the body in a drain after hiding it into a plastic sack. He also misleaded a few passerby when they asked him about the plastic sack which he was carrying on his shoulder. He told them that is filled with garbage and he is going to dump it," Kumar added.

Police officials said that the girl went missing from her house on August 12 (Eid festival). However when her family failed to trace her, they contacted police and lodged a kidnapping case against an unknown person.

"The body was spotted by a passerby who informed police. It was packed in a sack lying in a drain adjacent to NH-24 under the area of Indirapuram police station. Police reached the spot and informed nearby police stations for identification. Later a family from Khora area recognised the body as their daughter," Kumar said.
