Man held for kidnapping 2-yr-old kid

New Delhi: Delhi Police on claimed to have solved a case of the kidnapping of a two-year-old boy within 24 hours of the incident reported in the area of New Delhi railway station and arrested one person from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.

Police identified the accused as Shailendra Koli (30), a native of Badayun. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said that on August 29 the complainant (lady) reported that on August 28, when she along with her son was going to meet her sister in Ambala area from Basti Railway Station.

The accused met her at the railway station, who informed her that he is also going to Ambala. Later the accused fled with the minor boy.

DCP Railways further added that the complainant received a phone call on her mobile phone from a new number, in which Koli asked her to come to Rampur to collect her boy. A team formed under ACP Meera Sharma was formed to crack the case. "The complainant was asked by the accused to reach the railway station in Rampur. The woman reached the spot. On the other hand, the police team laid a trap at the station," police said.

After some time accused approached her and he was nabbed by the police team.

Police said that the accused had kept the kidnapped boy at the house of his sister. The minor was safely recovered.

"The accused had told lie to her sister about the minor. Koli's wife left her long back and he desperately wanted a company. He met the complainant and he planned to marry her, as such he kidnapped her child to compel her," police said.
