Man dead, six injured as SUV rams into auto in Lado Sarai

New Delhi: A man in his 40s was killed while six others were injured, after the auto-rickshaw they were traveling in was hit by an SUV in south Delhi's Lado Sarai late Tuesday night, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Chandan Kumar Jha, whose body has been preserved for post-mortem.
The accused driver fled from the hospital where he was admitted, leaving behind two co-passengers, who also sustained minor injuries in the accident, cops added.
On Tuesday night, Jha was travelling in the auto-rickshaw, being driven by one Guddu, and accompanied by Roopram, Neeraj and Satendra, all of whom were coming from south west Delhi's Mehrauli.
The victims, who are residents of central Delhi's Baljeet Nagar, are involved in catering work and were returning from a function.
As the auto-rickshaw was turning towards AIIMS, a Tata Creta SUV, bearing a Delhi registration number and coming from MB Road, rammed into the three-wheeler.
The three-wheeler turned turtle as soon as it was hit by the SUV. Cops were informed about the accident and the victims were rushed to hospital.
Police said that Jha was declared brought dead, while the others, whose condition is stable, escaped with fractures.
Cops are yet to record the statement of the victims.
