Man battles for life after being shot twice by miscreants
New Delhi: A man was shot twice in his stomach by some criminals while he was going to the market on his scooty in Rohini's Bawana area. The man has been identified as Monu who also has some criminal cases against him including an attempt to murder.
It is believed that the rival gang members have opened fire at him at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The man was shot in full public view and was hit by two bullets as he fell down. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was operated upon and is still under observation in ICU.
The injured identified as Monu (34), a resident of Wajidpur village in Bawana and has past criminal history against him in Delhi. Police, however, have ruled out any connection of gang war in the incident and have claimed reason of personal enmity with assailants.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when Monu was on his way to market on his scooty in Bawana area. Suddenly, four armed assailants travelling in a car overtook him on his way and set opened fired on him. The assailants hit two bullets in Monu's abdomen and fled from the spot. The injured collapsed on road in a pool of blood.
DCP Rohini, Rajnish Gupta said that a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused in PS Bawana and the investigation has been taken up.
"The suspected assailants have been identified by the police as victim known to them and have given details about the accused. We are investigating the case and the accused will be arrested soon. The victim was attacked in personal enmity.
During the investigation, the victim has also past criminal history as few criminal cases under a section of 307(Attempt to Murder) and 323 of IPC have been found registered against Monu. Further investigation is underway," DCP, Rohini, Rajnish Gupta said.
The crime branch teams have inspected the spot and scanning the CCTV footage of the areas to point out the movement of assailants and identification of the car used in the crime. Teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
