Man arrested for raping minor girl

Ghaziabad: A 30-year-old man has been arrested by Ghaziabad police for raping a minor girl in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the accused identified as Puran Singh, native of Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad, lived with victim's mother after she got divorced to her husband around five years ago. He raped the 10-years-old girl while her mother had gone out of home for work on Monday.

Police said that victim's mother is a domestic help while the accused works as a labourer at a tent house in Vijay Nagar area.

As per the complaint filed by victim's mother, on Monday morning, when the woman had gone for work in nearby area the accused forcefully raped the minor girl inside the house after getting

drunk.

The victim narrated her ordeal after her mother came home from work.

"Victim's mother, in her complaint, said that the man with whom she was living in a live in relationship, had raped her daughter in her

absence. She told that the accused is a heavy drinker and often fight with her too" said Rameshwar Singh, station house officer, Vijay Nagar police station.

The officer further said that the accused was arrested from his house and was sent to jail.

"Acting upon the complaint, a police team from Vijay Nagar police station arrested the accused from his house on late Monday

night.

"A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376AB (rape) and section 3/4 of Protection of Child Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) act has been registered against the accused and he has been sent to jail after producing before the court on Tuesday" the officer added.
