Man arrested for murdering female pharmacist in Rampur

New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a man for murdering a Delhi woman and taking her to Rampur, Uttar Pradesh and murdering her in a fit of rage.

The accused has been identified as Heera Singh. On February 9, a complainant Khem Singh lodged a missing person's report of his niece Priyanka Adhikari, age 23 years, at Ambedkar Nagar police station who resided in a DDA flat at Madangir and had been missing since February 5.

The complainant alleged that the missing girl was working as a pharmacist in a hospital in Delhi and was friends with some guy named Heera Singh , who was also a pharmacist and a distant maternal uncle in relation.

Meanwhile, it came to the knowledge of the cops from Singh that UIDB of a female was found on February 6 in the Civil Lines area in Uttar Pradesh. Immediately, police alongwith the family members of the missing girl reached there and the deceased was identified as Priyanka Adhikari.

Accordingly, Section 302 IPC was added in the case already registered at Ambedkar Nagar. Accused Heera Singh was zeroed down with the help of technical surveillance. Accordingly, a raid was conducted and Singh was arrested.

During course of interrogation, the accused disclosed that he was in relationship with Priyanka Adhikari.

"The accused took a bus and reached at Anand Vihar bus stop at about 10.00 p.m. After that they boarded a bus headed to Bareily. At 4.30 a.m., they got off at Rampur bus stop and started walking. There was scuffle between the two. In anger, accused slapped her and took a brick and hit her head six to seven times. She died at the spot," said DCP South Atul Thakur.
