Man arrested for giving triple talaq to his wife
Greater Noida: A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Gautam Buddh Nagar's Dadri police for allegedly giving instant triple talaq to his wife, said police on Monday. Cops said that the accused threatened his wife of killing her brother and forced her to sign divorce papers.
According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Mahboob. "He was arrested on Sunday night from Dadri bus stand after an FIR was lodged into the matter on November 6," said police.
In a complaint, the woman told police that she got married to Mahboob on January 9, 2016 but their relationship started turning sour soon after marriage and she started living separately along with her mother and younger brother at her rented house in Dadri area.
She alleged that on the morning of November 4, her husband along with two of his younger brothers stopped her when she had gone to a nearby market along with her mother. He asked her to come at a court in Greater Noida else he would abduct and kill her brother.
"A few hours later I reached court and the accused forced me to sign a few papers. When me and my mother signed the papers, my husband pronounced the word talaq three times outside the court," the woman said in her complaint.
The woman then gave a written complaint to police into the matter and the accused along with two other persons were booked under the sections of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. "The accused was absconding after the incident and police had been making efforts to trace him. He has been arrested and was sent to jail after producing before the court on Monday," said a police officer of Dadri police station.
