LPG black marketing busted in Alipur raid

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday launched a crackdown on illegal LPG refilling and black marketing, conducting a raid in Alipur and initiating legal action against those involved.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Food & Supplies Department and oil marketing companies following inputs from a sting operation aired a day earlier. During the raid, officials detected illegal refilling of LPG cylinders, a hazardous practice that poses serious safety risks and disrupts the regulated supply system. Authorities also seized three consumer passbooks allegedly used to procure subsidised cylinders for illegal resale. An FIR has been registered and materials recovered from the site have been confiscated.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated the government’s strict stance, stating that “any attempt to exploit consumers or manipulate LPG distribution will invite the strictest possible action.” She added that there is “zero tolerance towards black marketing and hoarding,” while assuring that there is no shortage of LPG supply in Delhi.

Government approved 13 SDM-led teams for inspections and surprise checks across LPG networks, urging citizens to report suspicious activity, with crackdown to ensure safe, fair,

uninterrupted supply.
