Library developed by NDMC inaugurated
New Delhi: New Delhi MP Meenakashi Lekhi on Wednesday inaugurated the Modern Public Library at Laxmibai Nagar here.
The library has been developed by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), in collaboration with Angelique Foundation, under an unique CSR initiative.
Lekhi said that library will play an important role in promoting the progress of knowledge in the society and there are many people who love reading.
"Reading helps us build an opinion and have points of view on things in life. It is the need of the hour to inculcate reading habits amongst the people in general and children in particular, in this age of digital gadgets.
"Reading is dreaming with eyes wide open and it is useful for children for imagination by open eye dreaming by books," the BJP MP said.
Underlining the importance of libraries in the modern society, NDMC secretary Rashmi Singh said that libraries play a very important role as they are the gateways to knowledge and culture.
"The services offered by library provide opportunities for learning, support, literacy, education and knowledge," the Council's secretary stated, adding that libraries shape innovative ideas, which help to make a healthy and progressive society.
