LG inspects beautification, market re-development work in EDMC areas

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday inspected areas in the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), regarding beautification of spaces under flyovers and re-development of markets.
Principal Secretary (PWD) Renu Sharma, EDMC Commissioner Dr Ranbir Singh and other senior officials accompanied him during the inspection.
Baijal also inaugurated beautification work at Keshav Chowk flyover, Shahdara. Dr Singh informed the LG that EDMC has planted samplings and taken other measures for beautification of spaces, and the LG appreciated the work.
Later, Baijal inspected the re-development of market at road number 64, Pocket-F, GTB Enclave. Most of the shops in the market have signage uniformity. Dr Singh informed the LG about the murals and the ladies toilet constructed by the Corporation in the market.
During the visit, Baijal also heard grievances of residents and directed the concerned departments to take appropriate action.
The LG also inaugurated a public toilet in Shreshtra Vihar and inspected a local market, with around 150 shops. Locals also appreciated the cleanliness and beautification work done by EDMC.
The LG also inspected beautification work on road no. 57 in Karkari Mod flyover area. He directed concerned departments to undertake maintenance work and ensure smooth electricity supply in the area.
He also appreciated the Corporation's anti-encroachment work, wherein areas surrounding the flyover was cleaned up.
The EDMC Commissioner thanked the LG for taking keen interest in the development of the area and appreciated the staff for working round the year in a dedicated manner.
