L-G visits DDA head office, praises staff
New Delhi: Lt. Governor of Delhi, V.K. Saxena, on Tuesday, visited the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Head Office and lauded the agency’s staff for their contributions to the holistic development of the city. During his first visit since assuming office as Lt. Governor and chairman of DDA, Saxena emphasised the importance of keeping public interest at the forefront in all decision-making processes.
Highlighting the DDA’s role in shaping the city, Saxena commended the authority for its recent initiatives, which have “not only transformed the city’s infrastructure but also enhanced its global stature.” He specifically noted DDA’s efforts in preparing Delhi to host world leaders during the G20 Summit, rejuvenating the Yamuna River, and developing recreational spaces such as Baansera and Asita. Additionally, he lauded the restoration of significant historical landmarks, including Vasudev Ghat, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, and St. James Church, which have added to the city’s heritage and appeal.
He also remotely inaugurated a new housing kiosk at the Rajiv Chowk metro station, which aims to assist potential homebuyers by offering information and services related to DDA’s housing schemes. This initiative is expected to make the home-buying process more accessible and efficient for citizens. During the event, he also distributed appreciation certificates to DDA officers who played a role in the successful execution of the G20 Summit.
L-G paid floral tributes to the statue of M. Visvesvaraya at Vikas Sadan, encouraged DDA staff to continue their work with a citizen-centric approach. He urged the team to focus on creating urban spaces that prioritize public convenience, enhance amenities, and contribute to a greener city. His remarks included a call for the further development of green spaces and the successful implementation of the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan, which aims to improve urban villages in Delhi.
