Kirari: Two arrested for forging documents to apply for voter ID
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested two individuals, including a cab driver, in connection with a case of voter registration fraud in the Kirari constituency. The police were informed about the fraud through a complaint registered at the Prem Nagar Police Station. The accused have been identified as Juber (35), a resident of Ramesh Enclave, Delhi, and Nadeem (30), a resident of Mangol Puri, Delhi.
According to the police, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Assembly Constituency-09 filed a complaint with Prem Nagar police station after detecting forged documents in voter registration applications.
The complaint alleged that five individuals submitted voter registration forms containing suspicious documents.
Following a detailed investigation, three forms were deemed genuine, while the application of Juber, a resident of Ramesh Enclave, was found to contain tampered details. Juber’s Aadhaar card, though authentic in number, had a falsified residential address. Juber had entrusted his original Aadhaar card to Nadeem, the owner of Ansari Jan Sewa Kendra in Mangol Puri. Nadeem allegedly altered the address before applying for a voter ID on Juber’s behalf. Nadeem’s shop specializes in repairing phones and processing online applications for various documents.
Based on the evidence, both Juber and Nadeem were arrested. The police have seized the hard disk of Nadeem’s shop as part of the investigation.
The accused Juber was a cab driver from Uttar Pradesh, Juber sought a Delhi voter ID to access local government benefits.
The accused Nadeem was the owner of a service center, Nadeem facilitated fraudulent documentation. The case registered under an FIR with sections 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and 336(3)/340(2) BNS, is ongoing.
