Kidnapping case: Four arrested, two absconding

NEW DELHI: Delhi police has arrested four persons in connection of kidnapping of a three-month-old child from Tigri in South Delhi. The child was recovered from Meerut and two of the accused are still absconding. The arrested have been identified as Sanjay, Rekha, Qamar and another woman Mukesh.

The cops received a complaint from a woman Dhanmaya, a resident of Assam who is a single parent of twins (3-month-old) who resides in Tigri that she went to bring some food outside her house and when she retuned found one of her child missing on March 6. Immediately the police swung into action and formed a team to crack the case. Further, CCTV footage of nearby area was checked and all suspected mobile numbers were put on surveillance in which two persons were seen on a motorcycle picking up the child. The footage was analysed and at one point it was seen that the child was being shifted in a car. The car number was traced to a person named Ranbir who was the son-in-law of Pinki, who was named in the FIR as an accused.

"The team started tracing both of them and raided several locations in Western UP at the residences of accused persons, their relatives/friends and finally the child was rescued safely from one Sanjay and his wife Rekha, residents of Meerut.

Both were arrested and on questioning, they disclosed that the child had been given to them by Qamar Alam and his wife Mukesh to keep the child with them for 4-5 days only for which they would be paid Rs 20000," said DCP South Atul Thakur. Further, it was revealed that both Mukesh Wife of Qamar Alam and Rekha Wife of Sanjay were real sisters.
