Juvenile apprehended for gang-rape of class 11 student

Greater Noida: Following the gang rape of a class 11 girl student of a private school in Greater Noida, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police has apprehended a juvenile accused, who was among the three named in the FIR, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the accused is one of the prime suspects in the case and is victim's class mate. He allegedly picked up the girl in a car in order to drop her home after she missed her school bus.
"Based on the complaint registered, we have detained five persons including the prime suspect in the case for questioning. The other two accused in the case are on run and teams have been formed to nab them," said Ram Bhawan Singh, station house officer, Greater Noida police station.
Sources claimed that the allegations made by the girls are being verified as they have been found to be dicey.
"She has given different statements to the doctor, to the magistrate and to the police. However, we are still checking the claims made by the girl," said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the girl, a student of 11 standard, has mentioned in her complaint that the incident took place on April 18, when she was walking back home from her school.
The incident came to fore just two days after the Union Cabinet approved the amendment in POCSO Act, putting a stamp on awarding death penalty to the rapists of children below 12 years of age.
