The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) on Monday filed a complaint to initiate strict action against twitter users for allegedly defaming the varsity and publishing baseless posts regarding JNU.
The complaint has been submitted to Cyber Crime Investigation Cell and also to the Delhi Commission for Women.
The JNUSU in the complaint said, "Derogatory things has been said about the varsity, particularly about the female students, teachers, and staff of JNU were passed on social media platform Twitter in the past few days."
A twitter account in the name of Swamy Sena (tweets @ swamy_sena) on April 30 shared a year old report by India Today, saying "JNU is a den of organised sex racket, says dossier prepared by university teachers".
The same was retweeted by Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy (Tweets @ Swamy39) who has four million followers.
"Your proximity to authority does not give you license to abuse," said JNUSU in the complaint.
Meanwhile, another account by the name of Mera Bharat 2016 (tweets @ merabharat2011) wrote a defaming statement in the context of the female students of JNU and said, "More than GB Road, JNU have been centre of high-class call girls for rich people night parties since 1980."
To this, Swamy Sena tweeted, "Words offences you but what about the dirty filthy action which is going on in Free Sex hub JNU."
"Due to these misleading promotions, many female students are subjected to sexual violence from time to time," added JNUSU.
