JNU begins admission to its first-ever engg school

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Monday began admission to its newly-established engineering school, which has two courses with 50 seats each. The classes for the new courses will commence from Monsoon semester starting in July.
"Jawaharlal Nehru University has begun the process of admissions into its youngest School of Engineering, established earlier this year," the varsity's Rector I said in a statement.
The decision to open the school for aspirants was taken in the 145th Academic Council meeting held on May 18.
Starting with courses in 'Computer Science Engineering' and 'Electronics and Communications' for now, the school will admit students through Joint Seat Allocation Authority on the basis of their JEE (Mains) rank.
Students will be admitted for the five-year dual degree programme of B Tech and MTech/MS degree, with specialisation in Social Science/Humanities/Science/Technology.
"The unique feature of the Engineering School at JNU will be its multi-disciplinary approach to imparting education to engineering graduates. The new School of Engineering is one of the major initiatives of the university during the last two years," the university statement said.
