Jilted lover arrested for shooting woman
New Delhi: A man believed to be jilted lover shot a woman in North West Delhi's Aman Vihar. Police have arrested the accused in the case and further investigation is going on.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan on Sunday stated that a PCR call regarding shooting a girl named Anshul was received around 10:30 pm on Saturday after which they started their investigation.
"The accused has been arrested under section 307 (Attempt to murder) and arms act. The weapon of offence has also been recovered," added DCP Khan.
She further informed that health of the victim, a charted accountant by profession, is reported to be stable.
Police also claimed that the accused used to harass the woman and followed her several times which was objected to by her. On the day of the incident, the accused came to the relative house of the Charted Accountant where she was staying on Saturday, and shot the victim.
"He rang the bell and as the gate was opened he shot and fled the spot. Hearing the noise the other relatives and neighbours rushed to the spot where they found the woman lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to the hospital and PCR call was made regarding the incident," police said.
The police scanned the CCTV footages and a manhunt was launched. The accused was nabbed from Shahdara district. The victim also lives with her family in the same district.
In February, a 21-year-old girl was attacked by the person inside her house in Outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area.
