Jeweller murdered at his residence in Dwarka
New Delhi: A 37-year-old jeweller was allegedly murdered at his residence in Dwarka area of Delhi early on Wednesday morning. Police said that they are probing the case from several angles including personal enmity.
Police identified the deceased as Lalit Aggarwal who lived with his family in Madhu Vihar area. The family members of the deceased were sleeping when the incident occurred.
According to the police, the incident took place around 2:36 am.
"As soon as we were alerted about the incident. A team was immediately rushed to the location. The deceased was identified as Lalit Aggarwal, who is a jeweller and runs a jewellery shop on the ground floor by the name of ''Satyam Jewellers''. The shop is on the ground floor and the family resides on the first floor," said a police officer.
According to police sources, the deceased was sleeping with his 14-year-old. In the night Lalit waked up his son. "The child switched on the lights and found his father on the pool of blood. Blood was oozing out from the throat. He informed other family members," said an official adding that the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Sources claimed that the entry of the accused seems to be friendly.
"The probe is on from different angles. Several teams have been formed to crack the case," police said.
The investigators are also checking whether any things had gone missing from the house.
"We have questioned a few persons in this regard to get clues in the incident," police said.
Adding further, the officer said that the other family members were sleeping in the other room. "The case will be cracked soon. Footages of several CCTV cameras are being scanned," police said.
A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Dabri police station.
As many as 164 murders reported different parts of National Capital in the first four months of 2019.
The investigating agency said that one of the main reasons behind the killings was enmity and disputes.
The law enforcement agency has arrested more than 300 persons involved in the heinous crime.
