IPL betting racket busted, 11 arrested

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police has busted an IPL betting racket and arrested 11 persons from Kanjhawla. The police also recovered 68 mobile phones, 3 LED TVs, 8 laptops, 2 printers and other electronic gadgets.
On May 13, a secret information regarding gambling at Gajraj Farms in Nizampur village of Kanjhawala was received at Kanjhawla police station.
A team was constituted and a raid was conducted at Gajraj Farms. Eleven persons were apprehended from there who were operating online betting 'Satta' on the IPL cricket match between Chennai Superking vs Sunrisers Hyderabad.
"On sustained interrogation, it revealed that accused Rajiv Chawla was the mastermind of the betting racket. He disclosed that Gajraj Farms where they operated betting on IPL matches was taken on rent.
"All eleven accused confessed to operating gambling on IPL matches through mobile phone as per the rate provided online on a betting site," said MN Tiwari, Additional CP (Outer Delhi).
