Inspired by H'wood movie, man posed as photojournalist to steal expensive items

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested a 24-year-old man who impersonated himself as a photojournalist of a reputed paper in Mumbai and gate crashed in high profile parties clicking potographs of the celebrities and in the meantime, walked away stealing some expensive items from the party.

The accused Ashish John presented himself as the photojournalist and misguided the hosts.

Police arrested Ashish after a PR manager complained against the accused in Parliament street police station.

Ashish is a resident of Motinagar and has been visiting the 5 star hotels in the city under the garb of photojournalist but was soon questioned by the public relation staff.

However, on many occassions, he dodged the PR staff and continued visiting the hotels.

To impress the celebrities, he also showed them the photographs of reputed actors and actresses.

"He got the idea from a Hollywood movie and he resorted to cheating people by developing contacts with them. A case of theft has also been registered against him at Patel Nagar," said a senior police officer.

The PR staff suspected the person after they cross verified his credentials with the other media staff.

The staff believed that he mingled with high profile people after impressing them with an album he carried sowing them photographs of him with celebrities. Late, he exchanged numbers with them with an intention to cheat.

He was also quite active on social media where he sued the logo of a reputed Newspaper to misguide people.

The Newspaper denied any association with the accused. The Delhi Police has arrested him.

He is being interrogated to know how many people he has cheated by impersonating as a photojournalist.
