Initial findings show no sexual abuse in Delhi's CCIs: DCPCR
New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) conducted inspections in Child Care Institutions (CCI) in the city regarding the safety and security of children and initial finding of the report claimed that the child rights body did not find any scary details regarding child abuse in the institutions. The inspections which aimed to know the condition of kids living there took place soon after the horror happened in the shelter home in Bihar.
Ramesh Negi, DCPCR chairperson, told Millennium Post that they are compiling the report which will be sent to Delhi government. "The report did not claim any sexual abuse harassment, we will be sending the report to the government. Detailed visits were done by the DCPCR team," said the chairperson.
Rita Singh, another member of the child rights body claimed that more than 60 CCIs were visited in this regard and the problems which they found were regarding sanitation facilities.
"We made surprise visits in the CCIs all over Delhi and the inspections were conducted in different timings. We checked the documents and also took the details of children living there. We also talked to the kids but found no sexual abuse," said Singh.
Sanitation issues like uncleaned toilets were there. The motive behind the checking was to ensure that the children staying in the CCIs are getting good and healthy environment and are not facing any kind of abuse or negligence.
The country recently witnessed the horrific stories of the shelter home in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and DCPCR wanted to make sure these type of incidents should not happen in the Capital. Apart from inspections, the child rights body also came up with an advisory in order to help the children from suicidal Momo game.
Children in schools need to be cautioned about the suicidal game Momo Challenge through morning assemblies," states the advisory made by DCPCR.
