In Gurugram, first namaaz of Ramzan goes off peacefully

Gurugram: The first namaaz to be offered during the holy month of Ramzaan in Gurugram went off peacefully, with Friday's prayers being offered in the 23 designated places in the district.
The proceedings, however, did not go off entirely smoothly, as certain right wing outfits held protests at the District Mini-Secreatariat and demanded that the number of open spaces designated for offering namaaz should be further reduced.
What started of as a group of youngsters disrupting the devotees from offering namaaz on April 20, quickly snowballed into a major controversy in Gurugram, with the clip of the disruption going viral.
It then led to the arrest of these six culprits, who were then later released on bail. Their arrests, however, polarised the situation, as right-wing outfits protested the arrests and claimed that Muslims were encroaching on prime land in the name of religious practices.
