Illegal liquor manufacturing unit busted, five arrested
Ghaziabad: In a joint operation by Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad police, an illegal liquor manufacturing unit has been busted in Ghaziabad's Tronica City. Police said that five persons were arrested and three policemen suspended in the incident, police said Wednesday.
According to police, sleuths of the cops from Noida police, on early Wednesday morning, raided the factory which was running in a two-storeyed building and seized around 15,000 litres of illicit liquor. Police said that the raid was conducted in Tronica city under Loni area of Ghaziabad.
"Acting on a tip-off, police raided at the factory which was running illegally and recovered 15,000 litres of alcohol, ethyl alcohol, caramel chemical stashed in 200 drums each having a capacity of 100 litres, empty bottles, wrappers, sealing machines, and three tanks of 5,000 litres each filled with liquor," said Vaibhav Krishan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ghaziabad.
Police further said that one of the accused who was identified as Lokesh, was arrested with six cartons of illicit liquor. Upon arresting, he told police that he bought the liquor from a godown in Tronica City, Krisha added.
"Based on the information, police raided the godown and found a full-fledged liquor factory running stealthily. A truck loaded with 600 cartons of liquor was also seized," SSP said.
The officer added that the factory was being run by Amit alias Bhoora who carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head and is presently lodged in Patiala jail.
