Illegal gambling racket busted

New Delhi: At least 25 persons including a woman was arrested in gambling and betting racket. Police sources claimed that the illegal activity was run from the house in Greater Kailash area and they have recovered over Rs seven lakh in cash.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south east) Romil Baaniya stated that on Saturday a secret information was received at Greater Kailash-1 police station about gambling and betting at from house number A-19 of, Pamposh Enclave after which a raid was conducted at the address where 25 persons along with the owner of the house identified as Anupama Jain, were found playing gambling and betting activities. All were arrested on the spot.
"A case under sections 3/4/5/9/55 Delhi Gambling Act has been registered and taken up for investigation," said Baaniya.
Apart from cash, police also recovered 45 packets of playing cards, 2700 plastic token and chips of different value, small wooden Game Bingo, Poker Table, currency not Counting Machine and 25 mobile phones.
The DCP further claimed that the woman was the main operator of the illegal activities who claimed to be an ex-model and presently working as an event manager.
The illegal activity was going on from 20 to 25 days in the house and well-educated people from Janakpuri, Pitampura, Munirika, Greater Kailash areas were the customers. After the cops got a confirmed information they entered the house from the backside and busted the racket. The accused also used to check the outside activities through CCTV cameras.
Earlier a secret casino running inside a farm house of a retired army personnel in Dera Mandi Road in Fatehpur Beri was busted by south Delhi Police. Law enforcement agency arrested 30 persons including the owner of property, dealer, organisers, players, and attendants.
