Iftar for Unity: Shias, Sunnis gather at Jama Masjid

New Delhi: With the glittering Jama Masjid in the background , a group of intellectuals from both Shia and Sunni sects of Islam gathered on Sunday to observe an Iftar with a difference.

The 'Iftar For Unity' was organised to give a platform for both communities to spread a message of unity and peace, drive home the unity between the two sects. The programme gained significance after a message went viral on social media claiming that the Darul Uloom had refrained Sunnis from attending iftars organised by Shias. Speakers from both groups on Sunday emphasised on promoting brotherhood.
