If you find children in need do inform us: Child Welfare Committee to Police
NEW DELHI: "At the time of crisis if you find or have any information related to children in need, do inform us. We will take care of them," said Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of West District to Delhi Police in a letter dated April 9. The letter reads, "Since the day lockdown began which has now completed 20 days till date, CWC-1, Nirmal Chhaya Complex didn't receive any single case regarding any child who is CNCP, though we are hop ing that all the children are safe, united with their families during this time of the crisis the entire nation is facing." It further reads," We are sure that the cases reported must be very less during this lockdown period but despite this, it is unlikely that you will not be receiving any cases at all.
Although we know and are aware that you have to follow a stringent schedule to keep this deadly virus at bay. To support you and lessen your burden, we would like to bring to your notice that we have our separate supportive department's stakeholders who partner with us in all our endeavours. If you find any child, children who are in immediate need of any sorts, kindly inform us by calling any of the contact numbers of chairperson or members." Meenu Mehta, chairperson of CWC in Nirmal Chhaya complex said they are ready to take all the care of children in need and further complete the process without much indulgence or presence of police as they have to look after other duties as well during COVID-19.
"At the time of crisis, police duties have been extended. Our ultimate goal is to protect the Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) which cannot be possible without police." She further said that the status report or further needed documents will be coordinated with police once the crisis will be at bay. Amid COVID-19 outbreak, CWCs across Delhi are reaching out to the children living in child care institutions in the Capital, through video conferencing and emails.
