Husband kills wife, hangs self at residence in Jagatpuri
New Delhi: A couple was found dead at their residence in Jagatpuri area of Shahdara in Delhi. The deceased have been identified as Manas Chand and Laxmi.
The police was informed by one of the sons of the deceased and soon the police team which reached the spot collected all forensic pieces of evidence.
It appeared from the crime scene that the woman was murdered by a blunt object by repeatedly hitting on her head.
It seems like the husband commited suicide later. Police has also not found any evidence which shows forced entry.
Infact, the three sons who stayed at different floors of the residence broke the door which was locked from inside.
"This does not appear to be a double murder. Prima facie, the husband murdered his wife and then committed suicide by hanging himself. So far, no role of any outsider appears as there is no evident forced entry or ransacking, the family is also not doubting any foul play from outside," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shahdra Meghna
Yadav.
No suicide note or email has been left by the husband suggesting the murder could have possibly done in a fit of rage and later he himself hung himself with a ceiling fan.
This was the second marriage for both, Manas Chand's first wife died 7 years ago and Laxmi's first husband also died some years back.
Manas was having 7 children from his first wife, four daughters and three sons. However, ever since their marriage, the couple was not getting along well.
Laxmi, returned from her parents home a week back. It was when the sons suspected at the ground floor they broke open the door to find their father hanging and their stepmother dead on the floor.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and investigation in the matter is underway. The bodies have been sent for post mortem.
