Huge fire breaks out at wedding function, no casualties reported

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at wedding function in North West Delhi's Keshavpuram area on Tuesday. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that no casualty was reported from the spot.

At the time of the incident, the place was heavily crowded. Chief Fire Officer (DFS) Atul Garg said that the wedding function was going on when the incident took place.

According to the fire department around 11.04 PM, a fire call was received regarding blaze in marriage tent named Satya tent in Keshavpuram area.

After the message was received a total of eight fire tender rushed to the scene.

"The operation was stopped in 40 minutes no casualty was reported from there," said Atul Garg.

"We cannot tell right now how many persons were there in wedding," said an

official.

In another incident, a major category fire broke out in the Bawana area.

The DFS said that at 3.20 PM near Vardhman mall in Bawana fire was reported. A total of 22 fire tenders sent at the spot. No casualty was reported.

At any function in Pandal, According to DFS, there should be proper access, open space around the pandal, distance from medium and high voltage electrical installations, means of exits, materials of construction, first aid fire fighting arrangements, water storage for fighting, electrical wiring and availability of trained fire fighting staff.

Remove flammable material from corridors

The Delhi Fire Service has appealed to owners of public buildings providing sleeping accommodation across the national capital to remove all combustible material from their corridors and passages within two weeks.

The appeal has been made through a notice issued to public buildings like hotels, guest houses, nursing homes and hospitals in view of the Karol Bagh fire tragedy at a hotel in February that had claimed 17 lives.

The Delhi Fire Service stated the combustible material like carpets, furniture, wall panelling and dropped ceiling that needed to be removed from corridors, passages, staircases and terrace.

It urged building owners to have all exit routes, including staircases, free of combustible material at all

times.
